Budget Discussions Begin on August 1, 2022 Meeting

City staff presented an overview of the 2023–2024 budget process to the Burien City Council during their August 1, 2022 meeting. They shared a calendar of public hearings and described ways for the public to participate.

This year’s biennium budget will strive to reflect priorities set by the City’s new strategic plan with the City’s current financial resources and the plan to invest $10.8 million of federal pandemic recovery funding.

The City Council begins public discussion of the budget in October which will continue through December, when the final budget is adopted. Public involvement in the budget process is crucial to ensuring our City budget reflects community priorities.

Community members can comment and provide feedback on the budget during public hearings this fall.
