According to the memo transmitted to the City Council: “To meet Growth Management Act (GMA) requirements for a periodic update due by 2024, Burien has developed a Draft Comprehensive Plan, a Proposed Ambaum and Boulevard Park Community Plan, and draft implementing zoning for mixed-use and multifamily zones. As a result of the proposed future land use map changes, adjustments to Burien’s Urban Center Plan will be needed for consistency. Additionally, the Comprehensive Plan includes an updated transportation element supported by a new Draft Transportation Master Plan. To help facilitate desired housing a Multifamily Tax Exemption Code for the city and Planned Action Ordinances for the greater Downtown area and Ambaum and Boulevard Park are proposed.”
