City Council Sets New Directions for Strategic Plan

The Burien City Council met five times for four-hour sessions in July to hammer out a new strategic plan for the City of Burien. They worked with the City’s leadership team to learn about the community’s priorities through surveys and listening sessions. They also heard from staff about what was getting in their way and making it difficult to deliver on City Council and community priorities. They considered what could be realistically accomplished, working together with City staff and community, over the next five years, laying a strong foundation for the long-range planning this will occur next.

City staff will present a proposed implementation plan in September, with the final strategic plan document to be published later in the fall. The new strategic plan will also inform the 2023-2024 budget proposal. Public discussion of the budget begins in October.
