In early 2022, the Washington State Department of Commerce (DOC) awarded the City of Burien two grants, the Housing Action Plan Implementation (HAPI) grant and the Transit-Oriented Development Implementation (TODI) grant. The grants expand the scope of the Ambaum and Boulevard Park Community Plans. The HAPI grant ($100,000) will support community engagement, development of an affordable housing monitoring program, and zoning analysis and Zoning Code amendments to expand housing options in Boulevard Park and along the Ambaum Corridor consistent with the City of Burien Housing Action Plan. The TODI grant will support Zoning Code amendments implementing transit-oriented development and environmental analysis of future land use scenarios.
About the Ambaum and Boulevard Park Community Plans
How do we make our neighborhoods better for both neighbors and businesses as the city grows and changes over the coming years? To help answer that question, the City of Burien is conducting a community planning process along the Ambaum Blvd corridor and in the Boulevard Park neighborhood.
