The Burien Planning Commission held public hearings on the proposed North of NERA Rezone, offering opportunities for community members to participate before making a formal recommendation to the Burien City Council.
During the July 8, 2026 public hearing, the Planning Commission heard public testimony and received comments from community members. The Commission voted to continue the public hearing to their next meeting on July 22.
The North of NERA Rezone proposal would implement the Burien 2044 Comprehensive Plan by establishing new zoning regulations for the project area. The proposal is designed to support small-scale neighborhood-serving businesses and employment opportunities while recognizing the area’s proximity to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and preserving existing residential uses.
