The City of Burien is updating our Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) to reduce risks from natural and human-caused hazards. Your input will help us update our five-year plan for 2025.

This plan provides long-term strategies for reducing the impacts of disasters in Burien such as earthquakes, floods, fires, and landslides. Disasters take a heavy toll on communities by destroying life, property, critical infrastructure, and natural systems. They can also disrupt local economies, sometimes permanently. The HMP represents Burien’s commitment to creating and maintaining a resilient community if disaster strikes.
